Confessions of a Waitress
This is for every over-worked, under-payed, undermined servers out there who bust their ass trying to please customers while only making about $4 or $5 an hour. This is for every server who has cleaned dirty plates, refilled waters and sodas 20 different times in the span of an hour, and laughed at stupid jokes just so they could be rewarded with a $5 tip. Except when your getting drunk after the shift, it is never a fun job.
My Own Restaurant History
I've been waitressing for almost seven years, since I was 15 years old. I started at a very small Greek restaurant, moved up to a very crappy Friendlys, and then made my way to where I am now, a popular steakhouse known for their very fattening appetizers. I've never had a job that didn't involve a restaurant (a fact I would love to change, but can't, until I can find the real job I've been dreaming about since graduating college). I feel every single servers pain, and if I've learned one thing, it's that working in a restaurant is almost like going back to high school. So enjoy my waitress horror stories and get ready to hear about all of the ridiculous restaurant drama that goes along with them.
